“We have strong ongoing relationships with over 70 Indigenous Art Centres across Australia and well-established networks with Indigenous artists and institutions both nationally and internationally. Some of our international partners include the Kluge Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia, the Smithsonian, the Hood Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and FARM Cultural Park. Our capacity to deliver high level projects has attracted engagement by organisations and programs including AGSA/Tarnanthi Festival, Melbourne Art Fair, Sydney Contemporary and Melbourne Design Week, amongst others.”
— Agency
Agency is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-governed, not-for-profit organisation that works as a catalyst to celebrate and promote Indigenous art, culture and people on a local, national and international scale through the initiation and facilitation of ethical and sound investments into Indigenous-led projects and partnerships.
Agency was established in 2019 to support and service the capacity of the Indigenous visual arts industry. Our experience and situational awareness means we are uniquely placed to broker meaningful and robust partnerships between Indigenous Arts Centres, private and public investors, corporate and cultural institutions, and to foster ethical, strategic, professional and sustainable opportunities for the Indigenous visual arts within Australia and overseas.
Its programs include talks, exhibitions, residencies, publications, professional development initiatives and a major digital mapping project currently involving over 15 remote Indigenous Art Centres.
