Project Title: Twentieth-Century Artist-Designed Textiles in Australia

The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences has a significant collection of 20th-century material culture and ephemera relating to the design and production of printed textiles in Australia. Dr Tracey Sernack-Chee Quee will research into textile printing businesses such as Tennyson Textiles, Sekers Silk, John Kaldor Fabricmaker, Prestige Textiles, Florence Broadhurst, Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson, and Bill Onus. She will be looking particularly at Australian originality and innovation and women artists and textile designers.
Working in a variety of educational roles at TAFE NSW over a 25-year period, Quee has gained extensive experience in conducting desktop, qualitative and quantitative research into design industry needs and demands for the development of educational business cases.
