The Powerhouse is pleased to announce an extraordinary $30 million investment in the future of Powerhouse Parramatta by The Walker Family Foundation and Western Sydney University (WSU).
Powerhouse Parramatta Foundation Donor
In one of the largest donations ever to an Australian cultural institution, The Walker Family Foundation has committed $20 million to Powerhouse Parramatta.
The gift will establish the Lang Walker Family Academy, including four state-of-the-art education spaces plus dorm rooms for students and teachers to stay at the Museum.
It guarantees access to world-class immersive STEM education experiences for over 10,000 high school students from Western Sydney and regional NSW every year, with a focus on STEM skills and career pathways.
The Lang Walker Family Academy programs commence in 2022 in Western Sydney with in-school STEM education programming for schools in the Blacktown, Campbelltown, Liverpool, Bankstown, Penrith and Parramatta LGAs.
Powerhouse Parramatta Foundation University Partner
Western Sydney University has committed $10 million to Powerhouse Parramatta, a significant investment that reinforces the University’s ongoing commitment to developing the next generation of Australian innovators, scientists and entrepreneurs.
As part of this significant partnership, WSU will embed researchers in the Museum to create joint research opportunities with Powerhouse curators, there will be an annual WSU Scholar-in-Residence at the Museum, as well as international exchange programs for WSU students. WSU will be Supporting Partner of the Lang Walker Family Academy and will be naming rights partner of the Powerhouse Research Library as well as one of the seven ground-breaking exhibition spaces.
