World renowned music makers Jono Ma (Jagwar Ma) and Jonti (Stonesthrow Records) come armed with an array of vintage synthesisers to pay tribute to the age of analogue, where technology was still fresh and came with endless possibilities.
Both avid cinephiles, Jono and Jonti draw large inspiration from cult cinema of the 80’s. Combing video store shelves was a weekly ritual that helped shape their artistic practice and their love of sound design and composition. After a few months bingeing out on old VHS tapes and listening to synth driven soundtracks, the pair have created new work fuelled by the likes of Vangelis, John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream and Giorgio Moroder.
Partnering with the Powerhouse Museum, Jono and Jonti will be using the same gear their heroes did to create these iconic works. Rounding out this unique offering is art collective Babekühl, building a dynamic accompanying visual and lighting show. Expect a visual menagerie on screen, with lighting installations and lasers.
