Celebrate the eucalypt with the launch of the new Eucalyptusdom publication and podcast In Relation at Powerhouse Late.  

Featuring eucalypt experts Victor Steffensen, Professor Belinda Medlyn and Dr Rebecca Jordan. With art commission by Janet Laurence with Dirt Witches and Tree Veneration Society and scent by Anna May Kirk and Ainslie Walker.

PROCESSION

6 pm Spelling Seeds is a new site-specific performance artwork by Janet Laurence, with Dirt Witches, The Tree Veneration Society and other collaborators, under the direction of choreographer Lizzie Thomson. The work is commissioned by Powerhouse as part of Eucalyptusdom

 

LAUNCH

6.45 pm Publication and podcast launch by Dr Stephen Gilchrist

 

WRITING IN FOCUS

7.15 pm Eucalyptusdom artists Julie Gough and Luna Mrozik Gawler reflect on how writing forms part of their creative practice

 

SYDNEY SCIENCE FESTIVAL

7.30 pm A panel of leading scientists and experts — Victor Steffensen, Professor Belinda Medlyn and Dr Rebecca Jordan — discuss how the survival of the iconic eucalypt is tied to our own survival in the face of the worst climate crisis in nearly 12,000 years 

 

SCENT EXPERIENCE 

8 pm Anna May Kirk and Ainslie Walker introduce their new scent

 

PODCAST

5–9 pm  Be one of the first to listen to In Relation, a series of dialogues with artists, writers, ecologists and researchers learning with and from trees
