The Museums Discovery Centre is partnering with PlantingSeeds Projects to host a fun and informative day focused on improving the biodiversity in our cities to help bees, butterflies, birds, and other pollinators.
PlantingSeeds launched its B&B Highway project in 2019 and will have established ‘B&Bs’ – Bed and Breakfasts for Birds, Bees and Biodiversity – in over 100 schools by year-end.
Program of events
11am: All about Birds
PlantingSeeds founder and chief executive Dr Judy Friedlander will talk about the educational and practical urban biodiversity initiative, the B&B Highway, and local native endangered birds and how you can help them in your home garden and suburb.
12pm: Bees and Bed and Breakfasts (Plants) for Pollinators
PlantingSeeds education manager Nicole Lewis will present a fascinating and informative presentation on native plants for biodiversity.
Meliponist and entomologist Amelie Vanderstock will talk about a real buzz topic – bees, bugs and other invertebrates that pollinate.
This series of family-friendly talks and demonstrations is suitable for all ages. It is a free event, but bookings are recommended as places are limited.
