This one-day program is specially designed for staff and volunteers of small museums, the collecting sector and interested members of the public. The program includes a Handling Museum Objects Workshop, a light lunch and a Object Storage Tour of the new ‘state of art’ object storage facility at the Museum Discovery Centre. Please arrive at 9:30 for registration and tea/coffee.
In the Handling Museum Objects Workshop Registrar Nicole Balmer will demonstrate helpful hints for safely handling and moving a variety of museum objects plus she will discuss general registration practices. Participants, under supervision, will be able to handle select objects from the MAAS collection, using best practice techniques.
During the Object Storage Tour you will gain ‘behind the scenes’ access and knowledge about how this new facility is designed to house objects for optimum conditions. The Display Store is a new ‘state of art’ deep storage facility.
