Enjoy the sunset over the harbour while learning about the twilight sky on this family friendly tour.

Watch the sky turn from day to night in our digital planetarium and discover the constellations of the southern sky. Look through our telescopes and observe the sky through a whole new lens. Test your knowledge of space and ask our expert astronomers all your burning questions – How many stars are there in the universe? Is there a black hole in the centre of our galaxy? Will humans ever travel to Mars? Our guides love to share their knowledge with the next generation of astronomers and explorers.

We look at different astronomical objects every night based on the season and movement of the moon and planets. For families interested in more telescope time and superior views of the stars and planets we recommend a 90-minute long Sydney Observatory Night Tour.

Recommended for ages 5+. Children under five may experience difficulty looking through the telescopes.

Full terms and conditions can be viewed here.

If viewing through telescope equipment is not possible due to adverse sky conditions (eg rain or cloud cover), alternative activities will be arranged for the tour. Patrons should be aware that under these circumstances, it may not be possible to see astronomical objects in the sky.

Please Note: MAAS does not make recommendations or forecasts regarding weather and recommends that patrons refer to the Bureau of Meteorology to check weather conditions. The decision to proceed with a tour booking ultimately rests with the patron.
