The Museums Discovery Centre has partnered with Sweatshop to deliver this creative writing workshop, recommended for ages 7―12 years.
Participants will be able to explore their identity and sense of belonging through the process of trying a range of writing exercises and techniques. By the end of the workshop they will have created a unique piece of work.
Sweatshop is literacy movement based in western Sydney devoted to empowering culturally and linguistically diverse communities through reading, writing and critical thinking. It is a non-profit organisation run by a team of culturally diverse arts practitioners.
Participants will develop the skills and confidence to tell stories that reflect their own experiences and support them to articulate how issues like racism or sexism affect them.
This workshop if free, but bookings are essential as places are limited.
