Powerhouse Museum
The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences sits at the intersection of art, design, science and technology and plays a critical role in engaging communities with contemporary ideas and issues.
Reporting to a Visitor Services Manager, Visitor Services Officers (VSOs) are primarily responsible for providing a warm, inclusive welcome and visitor experience through the provision of an exceptional standard of customer service to all visitors and museum guests. This includes visitor welcome and farewell, providing information and orientation services, gallery invigilation, cloaking, tours and spot talks. VSOs support the delivery of events and programs including assisting with programs ticketing as required. In addition, the team works closely with the museum’s Volunteer Program.
VSOs work variously across 7 days both day and evening shifts. The role plays a key role in site safety and emergency management.
The museum is open every day except Christmas Day. Visitor Services Officers are required to work across a 7 days/week roster including day and evening shifts; candidates should consider their availability to work across the full breadth of a 7days/week roster including evenings and school holiday periods when applying. The museum has a number of part-time and casual positions, candidates will have an opportunity to express their interest for casual or part time work during the application process.
