The Collections Coordinator, First Nations assists with stewardship of the tangible and intangible First Nations cultural knowledge within the MAAS collection and works toward facilitating First Nations collection sovereignty through engagement, access and the care of the collection. The First Nations Collections includes but is not limited to objects, photographs, books, and archives either made by First Nations community members or contains culturally relevant information to First Nations communities.

Following the direction of the Head of Collections, First Nations, this role will contribute to maintaining a high level of cultural capability and cultural safety for those working with and accessing the First Nations Collections, this includes protecting the rights of First Nations peoples to maintain, control, protect and develop their cultural heritage, traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions.

The MAAS Project is the relocation of the Powerhouse Museum and part of a wider government project for the creation of a new arts and cultural precinct in western Sydney. The Assistant Registrar will be a part of a team working on the preparation of the collection currently stored at Ultimo for transportation and the logistics of the relocation to the Museums Discovery Centre.   

Under the Supervision of the Collection Storage & Logistics Team Leader you will be undertaking the day-to-day activities required for the Collection Relocation and Digitisation (CRD) Project. This includes physical and digital registration tasks associated with location control & object safety, including but not limited to: handling, packing, and transporting of museum objects within/between the Museum sites at Ultimo and Castle Hill.

The position acts as the Museum’s expert adviser to develop, implement and oversight WHS policies, programs and strategies to ensure a safe working environment, minimise lost time and accidents and comply with legislative requirements.
This includes managing injury management and rehabilitation programs. The position is also the key adviser working in partnership with managers to promote workplace health and safety for staff and visitors of the Museum.

The Payroll Assistant is responsible for preparing the payroll for processing and ensuring that all data is entered correctly and on-time each fortnight. The Payroll Assistant is also responsible for a range of payroll functions in accordance with legislative requirements and MAAS approved policies, programs and procedures including; leave administration, providing advice to staff concerning their entitlements with a customer service focus to ensure satisfaction whilst meeting treasury, and statutory and audit requirements. The Payroll Assistant is responsible for processing the fortnightly payroll on behalf of the Payroll Coordinator as required.

The Workshop Construction Coordinator is responsible for the in-house fabrication workshop. This includes overseeing the construction, fabrication and installation of all exhibitions, art works, collection displays and other Museum projects to meet international museum standards. The position is central to communication and problem solving within the exhibition and project development and installation.

The Fabrication Workshop unit is part of the Production Team and has the overall responsibility for the construction, fabrication, installation and maintenance of all Museum exhibition building works, equipment and storage areas.
