Terms and Conditions

  1. Tickets for programs, tours and events must be paid for at the time of booking by calling our Bookings Office (02) 9217 0222 or by purchasing online at www.maas.museum and cannot be reserved without payment.
  2. Patrons must advise of, or apply discount offers or vouchers at the time of booking. Discounts cannot be retrospectively applied after a booking is complete.
  3. Refunds and cancellations are not available after a purchase has been confirmed, except in accordance with the LPA Code of Practice or as required by law.

  5. Concession and student tickets are available to patrons holding valid Australian concession cards. A valid Australian concession must be presented upon entry. 
  6. Tickets are valid only when purchased through the maas.museum website or through an authorised third-party agent. Entry may be denied where tickets have been purchased through an unauthorised vendor or where tickets have been tampered with, damaged or defaced.  
  7. Tickets may not be used for advertising or promotions or resold at a premium without the direct written consent of MAAS. Breach of this condition may result in the cancellation of tickets and admission may be denied.  
  8. The right of admission is reserved and subject to the venue terms of admission.  
  9. Filming is not permitted inside MAAS venues without the express written consent of MAAS.
  10. Ticket holders enter the venue at their own risk.  
  11. Booking and transaction fees are non-refundable, except in accordance with the LPA code of practice or as required by law.

Sydney Observatory Tours – Booking Terms & Conditions 2023

  1. Tours proceed dependent on weather.
  2. Patrons will be notified of a tour cancellation via email no later than xx hours prior to the tour start time. 
  3. Refunds will be sent to your bank within 48 hours of the cancellation notification. 
  4. Patron change of mind refunds and cancellations are not available after a purchase has been confirmed, except in accordance with the LPA Code of Practice or as required by law.  
  5. Tickets must be paid in full at the time of booking and cannot be reserved without payment. 
  6. Adult supervision of minors is required at all times at the Sydney Observatory. A minimum ratio of 1 adult for every 5 children in attendance, is required.  
  7. The tour is unsuitable for children under the age of 5.  
  8. There is no general parking available on-site at Sydney Observatory. If you require accessibility parking and have a valid disability parking permit, please contact book@maas.museum to arrange access or call (02) 9217 0222. Please note accessible parking on site is strictly limited and is not available to buses.

School Group Bookings

Changes to your visit

  1. You can make changes to the time, date, numbers, or programs up until two weeks prior to your visit, when all details and payment must be finalised.
  2. MAAS will invoice school groups with updated details as appropriate.

Teacher to learner ratios

  1. MAAS maintains supervisor to learner ratios for learner safety and comfort. Within these ratios supervisors are free. Costs may apply for additional supervisors. 
  2. Supervisor to learner ratios: 1:1 for access groups, 1:2 for under 5 years, 1:5 for years K–2, 1:10 for years 3–6, 1:20 for years 7–12. 
  3. Schools and groups must adhere to the Terms and Conditions of entry.

Payment

  1. Details can be modified up until two weeks prior to your visit. After this time, Museum resources are committed to meet your requirements.
  2. Two weeks prior to the visit MAAS resources have been committed to meet your requirements and full fee as per invoice is owed.
  3. Full payment must be received two weeks in advance of your visit. Payment must be made in advance and cannot be made on arrival at the museum.
  4. There is no GST charged on school visits.
  5. MAAS is committed to equitable access and offers reduced fees for schools eligible for support based on the Index of Community Socio-educational Advantage (ICSEA).

Cancellations and refunds

No shows or late arrival

  1. Schools should arrive 20 minutes prior to the start of your booked program to allow for cloaking, toilet visits and/or a refreshment break.
  2. In the event of late arrival, contact us (02) 9217 0222 or at book@maas.museum to ensure that resources will be available to your group on arrival. 
  3. Please note: it is not always possible to extend the program finish time. If you arrive late, some elements and activities may need to be cut from the program to keep to the scheduled finish time.
  4. Advise us of any changes to your booking on (02) 9217 0222 or at book@maas.museum.

What to bring

  1. Bring lunch and refreshments, including water and a sun hat for lunch time play. 
  2. Please don’t bring valuables other than those you can carry with you. 

 

Seasonal Program and Holiday Workshops

  1. The parent/guardian of any minor participating in any MAAS workshop or program agrees to release and indemnify the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) for any liability, loss, damage or expense arising out of or in connection with the participation of the participating child/children in the above activity subject to the liability being reduced to the extent that any unlawful or negligent act or omission of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences and Information (MAAS) contributed to the loss, damage or expense.
  2. Workshops are staff supervised from drop-off to pick-up, including breaks, unless otherwise specified. 
  3. All visitors must adhere to the Terms and Conditions of entry.

What to bring

  1. Bring lunch and refreshments, including water and a sun hat for lunch time play.
  2. Bring any medication you require. Please advise of any access or medical requirements at the time of purchase.

Important information

  1. Workshops are age-specific, please comply with the minimum age recommendation when registering for your workshop.
  2. Please consider the suitability of the workshop you are booking for your child. Refunds are not available if your child is dissatisfied or under the minimum age required to participate in the workshop.
  3. MAAS always does its best to provide a safe, happy learning environment, however if your child is not able to participate in a meaningful way in one of our workshops, we will contact you to arrange for them to be picked up.
  4. It is expected that for all technology-based workshops, that participating children will have basic computer and mouse skills.
  5. MAAS will not take responsibility for customer errors during the booking process. Please check all details of your booking carefully before submitting payment.
  6. Visitors should arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the workshop.
